Description

The photographs do not do this ring justice…this stunning freeform crystal opal doublet from the famous Lightning Ridge mine in Australia shimmers in shades of sea green and blue…you feel you could actually dip your fingers into it!  Set in a simple 9ct yellow gold frame to accentuate the freeform of the stone on a softly hammered shank, this ring is a real statement piece that will attract a lot of attention!

This stone is a doublet which is a layer of opal on an ironstone backing.  The ironstone adds strength, accentuates the depth of colour and has the added advantage of being more economical; a solid opal of this type would cost many thousands of pounds but as a doublet is more affordable and, once set, indistinguishable from a solid stone.

This ring is available now for immediate despatch in size L.

Additional Information

Please be aware that some soap, detergents and antibacterial sanitiser can react with metal and gemstones to cause discolouration.

Opals are particularly sensitive; humidity, sweat, water, heat and especially chemicals – these can all impact the colour of a natural opal.  Australian opal is non-porous and therefore are much hardier.  However, wherever possible, to protect your jewellery, please remove prior to washing and always prior to using hand sanitisers.

Tips for caring for opals

  1. Opals should only be cleaned with warm water and a soft brush (and never exposed to harsh chemicals, even cleaners).
  2. While you can wipe the surface of an opal with a damp cloth, you should never fully soak an opal in water as this could cause some discolouration.
  3. Avoid exposing opals to either extreme darkness or excessively bright light for long periods of time.  Think of the stone as a houseplant requiring the utmost balance of elements to retain it’s natural beauty.

Accidents do happen – but do not despair!  Should your opal become discoloured, the chances are it will recover it’s natural beauty in time.  However, if you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sizing & Delivery Information

Ring sizers should be universal, however they can differ  – they shouldn’t…but they can.  To save delays and/or disappointment we prefer, wherever possible, to check your ring size using our own sizers.  If time allows, please order a ring sizer which we will send out to you straight away with full instructions.  Once we have your size we can go ahead and re-size or make your ring.  If this is not feasible, for example, if the ring is a surprise gift for someone else, then we will need to proceed based on the information you supply.  In these cases we cannot accept responsibility for any sizing issues, however we will be happy to re-size any ring after purchase although this may incur a small charge.

This ring is available for immediate despatch in size L (delivery in 1-3 days).

For re-sizing add 2-3 days and for made-to-order please allow 1-3 weeks.
