Beautiful 0.5ct brilliant-cut Moissanite set in a curved crossover band of 9ct yellow gold.

Originally discovered in 1893 by French scientist Henri Moissan in a meteorite crater in Arizona, he initially thought he had found diamonds, but later determined that the crystals were composed of silicon carbide.  Natural moissanite is incredibly rare so the moissanites generally available today are lab-created.  They are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to mined diamonds, and with good reason.

  • Measuring 9.25 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, moissanites are almost as hard as diamonds, making them one of the hardest substances on earth, suitable for everyday wear
  • They are environmentally friendly and totally ethical – no mining required with full traceability.  Fine jewellery made with moissanite and recycled metal (all our gold is recycled) is a responsible choice
  • They don’t conform to the norm
  • Like diamonds, they are available in shades of blue, gold, pink and clear

Additional Information

Please be aware that some soap, detergents and antibacterial sanitiser can react with metal to cause discolouration.  This is more common with silver which can even react to skin that is particularly acidic.  Any metal discolouration can be cleaned using a proprietary silver cleaner or polish.  Wherever possible, to protect your jewellery, please remove prior to washing or using hand sanitisers.

Almost as hard as diamonds, moissanites are amongst the hardest gemstones used in jewellery and are very suitable for everyday wear.  When cleaning use a mild soap and a soft brush to restore the brightness and sparkle of the stone, instead of using harsh chemicals and abrasive materials.

 

Sizing & Delivery Information

Ring sizers should be universal, however they can differ  – they shouldn’t…but they can.  To save delays and/or disappointment we prefer, wherever possible, to check your ring size using our own sizers.  If time allows, please order a ring sizer which we will send out to you straight away with full instructions.  Once we have your size we can go ahead and re-size or make your ring.  If this is not feasible, for example, if the ring is a surprise gift for someone else, then we will need to proceed based on the information you supply.  In these cases we cannot accept responsibility for any sizing issues, however we will be happy to re-size any ring after purchase although this may incur a small charge.
