Please be aware that some soap, detergents and antibacterial sanitiser can react with metal and gemstones to cause discolouration. This is more common with silver which can even react to skin that is particularly acidic.
Turquoise is generally quite stable but high heat can cause discolouration and surface damage. It can be affected by chemicals, cosmetics, perfumes, even skin oils or perspiration. Wherever possible, to protect your jewellery, please remove prior to washing and always prior to using hand sanitisers.
Turquoise may be cleaned with warm soapy water but should never be cleaned with steam or ultrasonic cleaners.
